ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ

David Imig is a Professor of the Practice at the ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ, College of ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ. In that position, he teaches doctoral students in teacher education, school leadership and professional development. He co-directs the College's Cohort-based EdD Program that serves 4 counties in Maryland. Dr. Imig came to the ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ in 2006 from the Washington, DC-based American Association of Colleges for Teacher ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ (AACTE), where he was President and Chief Executive Officer for twenty-five years. The Association awarded him the title of President Emeritus when he retired from AACTE. Prior to his appointment as executive, he also directed the Association's governmental relations program and contributed to the AACTE international education efforts. Dr. Imig was one of the founding members of the National Policy Board for ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂal Administration and represented AACTE on that Board for some twenty years. He served as Chair of both NPBEA and the Learning First Alliance (a coalition of a dozen PK-12 leadership organizations in Washington, DC), and in numerous capacities in the governance of the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ. He currently serves as a Senior Scholar for the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and co-directs the Carnegie Project on the ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ Doctorate (CPED) involving some 110 research extensive colleges and universities across the country in the transformation of the education doctorate. He is the former President of the National Society for the Study of ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ and has held positions on numerous boards and study commissions in this country and abroad. Dr. Imig's research and writing involves teacher education policy in the US and abroad. His degrees are from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
