
An article on Fortune.com highlighted a recent by ºÚÁÏ´óÊ researchers that shows that taking a computer science class in high school may increase students’ earning potential.
Assistant Professor in ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ Policy Jing Liu, economics Ph.D. candidate Cameron Conrad and Associate Professor in ºÚÁÏ´óÊÂ Policy David Blazar found that workers who took a computer science class in high school earn a salary 8% higher than their peers on average at age 24. The salary increase is even higher among Black and female workers and those from low-income backgrounds, at 10 to 14%. In addition, the researchers found that salaries increase regardless of the field in which the workers are employed.
